  • 2 large yellow onions (thinly sliced)
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (melted)

  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ cup vegetable broth
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 small yellow onion (diced)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic (minced)
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried mustard
  • 4 cups vegetable oil
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. In a pan over medium heat, melt half of the butter and sauté the diced onions until soft.
  3. In a large bowl, combine thawed hash browns, melted butter, shredded cheese, sour cream, cooked onions, garlic, flour, salt, pepper, broth, and milk. Mix well.
