  • 300 g Cavatappi macaroni
  • 5 Onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 3 cups Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese (grated)
  • 1 tbsp Flour + 3 tbsp water (for béchamel)
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 2 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • Fresh Parsley (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 1/2 Baguette

Instructions

  1. Thinly slice onions and caramelize in olive oil over medium heat for 30–40 minutes until sweet and golden.
  2. In the same skillet, whisk together flour and heavy cream to create a smooth béchamel sauce.
  3. Stir in caramelized onions, seasonings, and grated Parmesan cheese into the béchamel.
  4. Cook cavatappi until just shy of al dente; combine with the sauce.
  5. Transfer to a baking dish, top with extra onions and breadcrumbs, then bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10–15 minutes until golden.
