Ingredients

  • phyllo dough
  • unsalted butter
  • shelled pistachios
  • granulated sugar
  • cream cheese
  • eggs
  • sour cream
  • honey
  • water
  • lemon juice
  • optional orange blossom water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the honey syrup by simmering honey, water, sugar, lemon juice, and optional orange blossom water in a saucepan for about 10 minutes. Allow it to cool.
  2. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C) and line a 9-inch springform pan.
  3. Layer 10-12 sheets of buttered phyllo dough in the pan and sprinkle with chopped pistachios mixed with sugar.
  4. Beat softened cream cheese with sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and sour cream until smooth. Pour over the crust.
  5. Layer another 10-12 sheets of buttered phyllo on top of the filling.
  6. Bake for 60-70 minutes until set but slightly jiggly in the center.
  7. Cool completely before refrigerating for at least four hours or overnight.
  8. Drizzle cooled syrup over slices before serving and garnish with additional pistachios.
